Network Engineer

Akkodis is seeking a Network Engineer with experience in Cisco and firewalls for a long-term contract/possible temp-to-hire opportunity in the Detroit, MI area.  Qualified candidates will have 5+ years of experience the design, configuration, implementation and support

of the data and voice networks.

Pay Range:  $50-55 per hour

Network Engineer job responsibilities include:

• Audit, test, document, implement and support all network technologies in a 24x7x365 manufacturing environment.

• Perform routine hardware refreshes and software upgrades.

• Plan, configure, implement and support network environments (new office location, existing office relocations and/or expansions, refresh of legacy environment, network integrations).

• Configure production-impacting routing, switching, and WLAN changes, as needed.

  Vendor selection, technology selection, testing and turn up various WAN circuits (MPLS, NoD, Point-to-Point, MIS, BVoIP, SIP etc.).

• Ensure that deliverables are placed in production within the planned budget and timeframe.

• Perform all required operational maintenance and troubleshooting of supported systems.

  Participate in disaster recovery planning, development, exercises and mitigation of actual events as required to maintain maximum network uptime.

• Evaluate and test software/firmware patches, updates and configurations supplied by manufactures/vendors, prior to implementation.

• Configure, troubleshoot and manage network monitoring system (PRTG) which requires in depth knowledge of SNMP, Netflow etc.

• Configure and maintain all firewalls (PaloAlto and Fortigate) to ensure a highly secure infrastructure at all times.

• Ensure all network equipment complies with company, industry and regulatory standards at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+  years of experience in a 24x7x365 production environment

• Extensive experience working with various network cabling (copper and optical)

  Solid understanding of routing protocols BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP

• Extensive knowledge of Cisco routers, Cisco Catalyst switches - 3850, 4500, 6500 and Cisco Nexus switches - 2K, 5K, 7K, 9K

• Extensive knowledge implementing and supporting DNS, DHCP, SNMP, Netflow, TACACS/RADIUS, SYSLOG

• Extensive knowledge of WLAN, access control lists (ACLs), TCP/IP. VLAN, VRF, Port Security, Traffic Shaping

• Experience with packet analysis solutions - Wireshark is preferred

• Experience with the design, provisioning and troubleshooting of WAN/LAN technologies and data circuits (MPLS, Point-to-Point, MIS, BVoIP, SIP)

• Experience with Data Center infrastructure technologies – UPS, PDU, KVM, emergency power generators, HVAC

• Document all network infrastructure using Visio

• CCNA or CCNP certification is a plus
